Travel Photos

A couple weeks ago I wrote a post about my approach to travel photography. I shared a couple of my photos from our trip, but I thought it would be fun to share some more! One thing about travel photography that I didn’t mention in my other post is that sometimes . . . I don’t feel like taking pictures. WHAT?! A photographer doesn’t feel like taking pictures?! Yep, you got that right. While I’m totally for preserving memories and I love challenging myself to get correct exposure in different situations and to capture things a different way, I also like to enjoy myself. I’m on vacation after all! And I don’t want all I remember from my vacation to be taking pictures of my family doing fun things. I definitely want to join in that fun! Sometimes this means not worrying about my big camera and all the settings and just taking a quick snapshot on my phone, other times this means not even worrying about getting a picture.

Our trip was SOOO fun! We had three days at Disneyland sandwiched between two beach days. It was the perfect combo of busy and relaxing. My kids loved seeing all the characters at Disneyland, and I was surprised when they wanted to take pictures with Goofy, Pluto, Minnie, and all the classic characters since they haven’t watched a lot of shows with them. Honestly, I loved seeing the characters too! Especially the princesses. It made my inner little girl so happy!

Our major success on this trip was getting my oldest to enjoy a roller coaster! My youngest has no problem with that, but it’s been a struggle for my oldest. Disneyland’s Thunder Mountain Railroad came to our rescue. Because it was a TRAIN, this somehow made it ok and not scary to ride. Yeah, doesn’t make sense to me either, but we will definitely take what we can get!

Oh, and the picture of them on the train? The one where they look tortured? They really were happy to be riding it. You’ll just have to trust me on that one.
