Struve Family in Old Town, Albuquerque

This session almost didn’t happen. Rebecca and I had scheduled a date which ended up not working because of a church thing we both needed to be at, so we rescheduled. On our rescheduled day, her son was sick so we had to reschedule again. The day we rescheduled this time was forecasted to be rainy, and the forecast was right- it was a really rainy day. So we were both scrambling around trying to find a place that would work indoors. Every greenhouse I called didn’t work out for one reason or another, the railyards was under construction and not possible, and there aren’t a lot of cool building here in Albuquerque that would be pretty to shoot in. We ended up deciding on Old Town figuring that even if it was still raining there would at least be some covered walkways. I was still kind of skeptical that it would happen, but at the time of our session it was just drizzling and ended up stopping altogether. So it finally happened!

I’ve only shot in Old Town once before. This time we went to some of the same places, but found some different ones as well. Old Town is a lot bigger than you would think driving by it, and it’s got some really fun and cute places there.

I met Rebecca through some mutual friends, but I’ve really gotten to know her during the past two summers at lunch in the park. She is so fun to talk to, super patient with her kids, and she’s super nice. It’s also thanks to her that my son is in Let’s Play Music classes now. Looking forward to seeing her more again this summer, ha!

The Struve family is so fun. Rebecca’s youngest is a little fireball. He is full of energy! He definitely kept me on my toes the whole shoot, but it was fun to try and make everything a game. The older boys were fun to talk to, and I loved watching them interact with their energetic little brother.
